Fishing Off The Beaten Track

People who love fishing especially love fishing where there aren’t other people fishing.  The latest trend in getting away from your fellow anglers is to go kayak fishing.

In a kayak you can really get to all sorts of places you perhaps wouldn’t be able to get to in another type of boat. But it is a slightly different type of fishing so you might want to try out san diego kayak fishing first.

You are much close to the water than you are probably used to and this takes a little getting used to. You are also considerably less steady – rolling a kayak is much easier than almost anything else other than a canoe.

Which brings us to another point – and this is definitely one to think about if you’re used to fishing from the bank.

You’re going to have to rethink how you cast. There’s barely a ten inches at most between the water and the top of your thighs. Not the room you’re used to having to cast off. You will need to learn how to cast off with one hand, quite a skill to master.

Be sure to take into account the weather conditions too. Paddling against the wind is hard work. With that in mind, some days you will want to be midstream when it is calm and easy. Other days you’ll keep to the edges to avoid having to work too hard.

Those who are adept at kayak fishing quickly learn to use their whole bodies, but especially the feet. You can use your feet as anchors and as rudders. Again it takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it before.
