Mountain huts are sports facilities for mountaineering and outdoor activities. Vegarredonda hut is placed in the "majada*" of same name , in the western massif or Covadonga massif, inside the National Park of Picos de Europa, at a height of 1.460 m above sea level. It was built on 1987, although already existed a small hut a few meters over the present which was used as a magazine during the spanish civil war. It consists now of two buildings with a total capacity of 58 beds

 The hut belongs to the Principado de Asturias and it is administered by the local mountaineering federation (FEMPA). If you own the federative license you can benefit from important discounts on prices, according to hut´s reciprocity agreement.

Vegarredonda hut is opened year-round. It offers excellent meal and bar services and you have blankets and sleeping bags for hire. Hut supply is made with horses in summer and with backpack in winter.

The warden, Fco. Javier Malo, carries out this job with a great experience for his recognized work during five years in Vega de Ario hut. He has also got more than ten years experience as a mountain guide and belongs to the local high mountain school (EAMPA).
